Week 13 Christmas

Week 13 Christmas

Im probably going to keep this short bc i don't have a lot of time, but i just want to say merry Christmas.
Christmas is really different here and its kinda made me sad. The only difference was that we couldn't teach anybody bc they were all busy, other than that it felt like a normal day. Except they all celebrate on the 24th which is kinda weird.
I got to talk with my fam on Monday which was awesome but way too short. It was good to hear them and see their faces!
For Christmas we just had a normal day until 9 (on Sunday) and then after 9 we got to stay at the bishops house until 11:30 so we just watched 17 miracles and went home haha. But while everyone was busy we did a ton of service hours helping members make tamales haha but other than that thats about it. I have a ton of pics to share but i forgot my USB so maybe ill send them all next week. Love you all. Merry Christmas

Week 12

Week 12

So we had changes yesterday! Im in La Paz which is by linda vista in villa nueva. Its Capital so its a lot warmer here haha. My comp is from Utah so i can finally talk some english and figure some stuff out! Our whole area is on a huge hill so everything is either up hill or down hill haha, but its pretty cool.
I said goodbye to some of the members in Zaragoza on Sunday which was sad! Ill send some pics of them. The first is a RC named Luis. He lived in the states for ten years so he knows english. He has had a rough life and found the church about 6 months ago and has changed a ton. Haha he has a bunch of chickens that he raises to fight hahah so we went and took pics with them! The next is hermano Hugo who is just super funny dude. In the middle of the pic his dog tried to attack him and i got it like frame by frame haha.
So in Cambios, one of the APs came up to me and was like yo theres a new hermana thats got a connection with you. So i was super confused but when she got the the church where changes were, i went and asked her and she said that her dads best friend was in the plane crash with my dad and her dads friends kids came to live with her family!! Her dad is Guatemalan but they're from Utah. Her Dads friend is named Javier Rabanol i think and he was the one from Guate that went on the trip with them! So thats my crazy miracle for this week. Its a reminder that our heavenly father loves and knows each and every one of us and my dad is here With me!!

Love you all and have a good week!

Week 11

Week 11

This is going to be a little short bc i don't have a lot of time but i just want to share a little bit about my week
On Wednesday we went to an area in our area called Potrerillos and there is hardly anything there haha. Its all farms and stuff but soon we are going to go out there with some members and do some work.
On Thursday was a holiday here in Guate called Dia del diablo and it was crazy. Everyone brings their trash to the street and burns it as a way of warding off the devil haha and then there was just fireworks everywhere and it was cool to experience.

It time that everyone is harvesting their crops so on Friday we spent like three hours helping random people clean their corn cobs by plucking out the bad parts haha. Ive got blood under my nails from all of that haha.

Saturday we went back to Portrerillos and worked there but then on Sunday it got sooo cold. My area is the mountains but i didn't think it would get that cold. It has been an answer to my prayer bc i miss winter so much. It got down to 0 degrees C on Sunday and its been cold every since.

On lunes we went to chimaltenango with some members and they bough us lunch which was super cool. He is a dentist and knows english really well so i always love talking to him. But also in Chimal is like a big mall thing where we go buy food and shop and stuff which is really fun bc its way different than my area. It feels like the states there and my area is crazy poor and farm stuff but it is super fun.

I love all of you and hope you have a good week,

Week 10

Week 10

Another week in Guatemala and its been calidad as they say here. Its getting a little colder but not near anything like home and it kinda makes me miss home and snow and everything. On Sunday there was a broadcast from SLC and it made me pretty homesick. Idk why but i couldn't understand any Spanish in it and it just made me homesick. I miss snow and Ski season and the fun stuff that comes with Christmas. I heard it snowed back home! i miss that!

Theres a fam that we've been teaching since i got here and they wee supposed to have a wedding sat and baptism Sunday but then on Friday everything fell through and they don't really want any of it and the day is going to move to the states. Idk how all that changed so quickly but it gets pretty depressing when your inv. Start to go down hill.

Other than that not much is happening. Just excited for Christmas and everything!! I bought myself a Christmas present on Pday haha. Its a big speaker bc in the morning and night we always listen to talks or music. The thing about Guatemala is everything is super cheap. One Dollar is like 8 Quetzals but everything is priced almost the same. So if something costs 10 dollars in the US it costs 10 Quetz here. SO if you want to travel here, its pretty cheap haha.
here is a pic of our district. (sorry i don't send more pics, i just don't take that many haha)

Week 9

Week 9

Another Week! Honestly time is already going fast even though its been like 4 weeks in the field.

This weeks been pretty eventful. Two weeks ago we were in splits and we visited a family that the sister missionaries have been teaching. She's been going to church for 5 years but never baptized bc of some reason. But so the Hermanas, Elder Petronilo and i went and taught them. She said that she had a dream that she needs to be baptized at the end of December and so we just taught her the importance of baptism and then she accepted the fecha for this last Saturday and She chose me to Baptize Her!! It was my first baptism and it was awesome. I don't have a pic with her bc i forgot my camera but she has a great spirit. We also had a baptism in our area! He is 10 and his dad is less active and his mom isn't a member so we are trying to get her ready for baptism and everything. But his Grandpa Baptized Him! Ill attach a pic with them!

But some other news. We have a mini missionary con nosotros this week. He's from a Ward in Patzicia and its to help prepare them for their mission. He lives with us and does everything a missionary does. Its pretty cool  bc its like I'm helping train in my training haha. But i still have a lot to learn.

I didn't even realize it was thanksgiving until i got back to our house at 9. Everyone in my district is from latin countries so they didn't celebrate it so i kinda forgot about it. I hope Christmas isn't like that haha.

Other than that, there is not much else to share haha. I miss and love all of
you.
